Videos show storms in Mallorca: water columns protrude from the sea, streets are flooded

The weather in Mallorca is rather unstable - not a trace of summer.

Instead, rain, hail, flooding and waterspouts caused a stir.

Those who spend this weekend (September 16/17/18) on the Spanish island will probably have to grab an umbrella rather than bathing suits.

Severe weather in Mallorca: rain, hail and floods

While the temperatures in Germany are falling more and more, during the Wiesn in Munich it is anything but late summer warm, the summer in the Balearic Islands literally fell through the cracks.

On Friday, a storm predicted by the Spanish weather service Aemet caused a stir.

With the warning level orange, the weather service had warned of rain.

Videos documenting the heavy rains appeared on the social platform Twitter.

For example, recordings from Inca, a municipality on Mallorca, show how the water masses flow down a street - similar to a smaller river.

In Selva, on the other hand, it rained heavily.

According to several videos, severe flooding occurred in the municipality of Felanitx.

Cars got stuck in the water.

The fire department had to move out.

Waterspouts off the coast of Mallorca: people film the weather phenomenon

A spectacular weather phenomenon also occurred off the coast of Mallorca.

Several eyewitnesses filmed the waterspouts forming over the sea.

Their occurrence is no longer necessarily uncommon.

Wind hoses of this kind have already formed over Lake Constance in Germany, for example.

This event also happened recently in Italy.

In the course of violent storms, a tornado swept across Lake Garda.

Extreme precipitation and hail were not spared the people on the island on Saturday either.

The weather conditions only eased on Sunday.

According to the weather service, the temperatures are between 24 and 29 degrees.
