Kremlin calls

discovery of hundreds of bodies in Izyum a '

lie '

The Kremlin on Monday dismissed as "

lies

" reports of the discovery of hundreds of bodies and a mass grave in Izyum, eastern Ukraine, after Russian forces withdrew from the area.

It's a lie.

We will of course defend the truth in this case

,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

According to the Ukrainian authorities, more than 440 graves and a mass grave were found last week near Izyum, in the middle of a pine forest on the edge of this city taken over by forces from kyiv to those of Moscow.

Since the beginning of its military intervention in Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly denied having committed abuses.

"

It's the same scenario as in Boutcha

," said Dmitry Peskov on Monday, referring to another city in Ukraine, located near Kiev, where Russian forces have been accused of committing atrocities, which denies Moscow.

The Kremlin spokesperson also assured Monday that the Crimean peninsula, annexed in 2014 by Moscow, was "

an integral part of the territory of Russia

", after Ukrainian officials repeated that they wanted to end the

Russian "

occupation

". .

Any sightings on Russian territory will receive an appropriate response,

” added Dmitry Peskov.

' strike

kills 13 civilians in Donetsk

A " punitive

" Ukrainian strike

on Donetsk, capital of the eponymous pro-Russian separatist zone in eastern Ukraine, has killed 13 civilians, the city's pro-Moscow mayor, Alexei Kemzouline, accused on Telegram on Monday.

He said that "

the number of injured (was) still being established

".

"

Nine 155 mm caliber shells were fired from the village of Netailové

", he said, calling on the population to "

only come out if absolutely necessary

".

These statements could not immediately be independently verified.

Ukraine accuses Russian military of bombing nuclear power plant site

Ukraine on Monday accused Russia of bombing the site of a nuclear power plant in the south of the country, raising fears once again that this war could lead to a major atomic incident.

This Ukrainian nuclear site is the third to be drawn into the war launched by Russia in February against Ukraine, and this, despite multiple calls from the international community to spare such infrastructure so as not to cause a continental catastrophe.

Moscow for its part denounced Monday the "

lie

" of Ukraine three days after the discovery of hundreds of bodies buried in the forest near the city of Izium recently taken over from the Russian army.

kyiv has accused the Russian army of abuses.

Reacting to the missile strike that hit the site of the Pivdennonooukrainsk power plant, in the Mykolaiv region (south), President Volodymyr Zelensky judged that Russia was

endangering "the whole world

".

"

We have to stop it until it's too late

," he said on Telegram, posting surveillance video showing a large explosion.

According to the operator Energoatom, "

a powerful explosion occurred just 300 meters from the reactors

" of this plant, lending it to a night strike from a Russian missile.

Freezing of Russian assets: a European commissioner criticizes Hungary's inaction

The EU froze 14.5 billion assets of Russian figures as part of sanctions adopted in response to the war in Ukraine, but several countries, including Hungary, did not contribute to the effort, claimed on Sunday a European commissioner.

"

We must put very strong pressure

" on Hungary, because "

we can assume that (its) very close ties with Russia may prevent it from acting

", declared the European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders, in an interview with the LCI television channel.

Hungary froze "

just over 3,000 euros

" of Russian assets, he said.

Nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban has forged close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent years and this collaboration has been maintained despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Budapest thus announced at the end of August an agreement with the Russian giant Gazprom to receive additional deliveries, at a time when other European countries are faced with a sharp reduction in the quantities supplied.

The Hungarian government is also cooperating with the Russian conglomerate Rosatom for the construction of two new nuclear reactors.

Disputes between Brussels and Budapest have multiplied in recent months.

The European Commission is particularly concerned about the corruption that threatens the proper use of European funds in the country.

She threatened Sunday to deprive Hungary of 7.5 billion euros in funding if the reforms promised by the Hungarian government were not quickly implemented.
