Wolfratshausen – The Geretsried painter Wolfram Weisse was delighted with the large number of visitors at the vernissage of the exhibition “Z Zwischenraum”.

It can be seen in the art tower at Schwankl-Eck until September 25th.

The works of the 2007 Geretsried Culture Prize winner sometimes show irritating overlapping forms.

It is not always possible to distinguish clearly between the surface and the subsurface.

But that is exactly what Wolfram Weisse intends to do.

"The essence of art is to present new forms of perception," he explained at the vernissage.

Ideally, his works of art arouse curiosity and stimulate dialogue with the painter or other visitors to the exhibition.

At the same time, the 82-year-old often doesn't even know how a painting that has started will develop.

"Materials such as sponges, creased paper, rags, structured cardboard and more are slapped, there is a lot of spraying and stamping," says the native of Dresden, describing his approach.

Geretsried painter Wolfram Weiße has only been painting since he retired

Weisse only found time to paint after his retirement.

For 41 years before that, as an art and film teacher at the Geretsrieder Gymnasium, he caused a stir far beyond the borders of Bavaria and received numerous awards.

Now it is works such as "Standstill Triptych", "Cloud Machine" or "Icarus' Dream" that also fascinated the Wolfratshausen cultural advisor Sepp Schwarzenbach and long-time companions such as Geretsried City Councilor Volker Witte and gallery owner Albrecht Widmann on the opening day.
