A journalist caused a stir on Twitter with an ironically worded Oktoberfest message.

The users discuss fundamentals.

Munich - Is a visit to the Oktoberfest a cultural treat?

Or does it only serve to witness an orchestrated mass disinhibition?

Opinions differ.

The Corona comeback on the Theresienwiese officially began on Saturday (September 17).

Traditionally, it was up to the Lord Mayor of Munich - in this case Dieter Reiter (SPD) - to open the celebrations.

Oktoberfest: Tweet about "drug cartel" on Twitter - advocates and critics discuss

It is not known whether Lorenz Meyer is one of the big fans of the Oktoberfest.

The journalist and author caused a stir with a post on Twitter.

Meyer approached the Wiesn with a wink.

Below is his “message” at the beginning in full:

"World's largest drug cartel identified: In Munich, dealers have erected tents on a meadow to sell narcotics commercially.

According to an insider ("Söder knew about it"), the drug dealers acted with the approval of the Bavarian state government."

"Söder knew about it": Supposed Oktoberfest message leads to fundamental debates

On Monday morning (September 19), the tweet had already collected almost 3,000 likes.

Meyer's sense of humor is understood by most users, but they are still eagerly discussed under the post.

"'Beer corpses every minute' is simply our culture," comments one user.

For him, the celebrations on the Theresienwiese are apparently tantamount to the orchestrated mass disinhibition mentioned above.

Another reader is critical of the Oktoberfest for a completely different reason: "Is this the parallel event to 'Wasting Energy for Advanced Students'?"

With all the criticism of the Wiesn, some Twitter users can no longer hear the allegations.

One puts it as an example: “More and more people are trying to impose their opinions on other people.

Please become human again, live your life and let other people participate in it.

In good and in bad times ..."

A completely different reading then brings the Twitter user "Solidarity" into the debate: "With the constant struggle of intellectuals against the Wiesn, you feel the longing to be there, but you don't want to reveal yourself to the proletariat."
