The Ayalon Darom road, between the Shalom Interchange and the Halacha Interchange, will be hermetically sealed this evening (Wednesday) until the night hours.
The blockades are taking place to enable seismographic tests in the area, following the sinkhole that opened in the road about three days ago.
More blockages are expected in the evening and at night
Between the hours of 22:00 and 00:15, the entrance ramp from Elozorov to Ayalon Darom, and the two right lanes from Elozorov to Shalom will be blocked.
Between the hours of 05:00-00:15, Ayalon Darom will be hermetically blocked from the Halacha Interchange to the Peace Interchange.
Between the hours of 05:00-06:00, traffic in Ayalon South from the Halacha Interchange to the Shalom Interchange will be opened, including the entrance ramp from Halacha to Ayalon South which will open to traffic.
However, the right lane and the entrance ramp from Alozerov towards Ayalon South will remain closed following inspections.
Starting at 06:00, traffic in Ayalon South will be opened except for the exit ramp to the Peace Interchange, which will remain blocked.
Earlier today, it was reported that the exit to the Tel Aviv Peace Interchange, which was also blocked due to the sinkhole, will also remain closed.
This, following works designed to exclude additional sinkholes.
Alongside the attempts to examine the cause of the opening of the sinkhole and to prevent further damage, the works at the nearby construction site of the Azrieli company - which are suspected to have caused the formation - continue.
On the site in question, located near the interchange, the company's "Spiral" tower was built, and vigorous work continues on the wall separating it from the road.
Officials at the Ayalon Roads Company estimate that the sinkhole was created as a result of drilling carried out by the Azrieli Company at the construction site, which caused the water below the surface of the soil to flow towards the road and open the pit.
The sinkhole opened on the main road three days ago, at the exit to the peace interchange in the southbound lane.
The diameter of the sinkhole stretches across lanes and edges, near Azrieli Mall.
