Generations of men have sung in the men's choir "Frohsinn" in Luttenwang.

The club is now celebrating its 100th birthday.

Because of the pandemic but with a two-year delay.

Luttenwang

– When Pastor Winter, who was present at a meeting of the servants’ association at Easter 1920, liked the singing performances, he invited the men to his place – and regular rehearsals began in the school building in Grunertshofen.

Marian hymns were learned for the upcoming May devotions, and later secular hymns were also practiced.

In the same year, the singing club was founded with the name "MGV Frohsinn Luttenwang".

If you stayed away from the rehearsals, there was a fine

In the beginning there were always between five and ten singers.

Today the male choir has 23 active members and a total of around 60 members.

Paragraph one of the statutes states: “The purpose of the choral society is initially the cultivation of male singing, with a weekly meeting.

Other conversations may take place at times, but the singing always remains the main thing”.

That's how it was then, and that's how it is today.

Courageous and free, honest and loyal: That's the motto of the MGV Luttenwang.

But the rules were tough back then: one absence without a reasoned excuse was punished with one mark, two with two marks and three absences were considered resignation from the club.

In contrast, today's annual contribution of ten euros is almost a "no brainer."

The desire for a standard of their own soon developed.

On May 14, 1922, thanks to many donations, the flag was inaugurated.

24 clubs from near and far were there.

The MGV, which belonged to the Ammersee-Nord region from the start, organized Gausingen in Luttenwang for the first time in 1928.

A tent was erected for this purpose.

During the Nazi period, the club life of the MGV could no longer be continued in the usual style in Luttenwang either.

The fact that the association survived this difficult time was mainly due to Johann Frietinger senior and Pastor Winter.

The first club flag was dedicated in 1922.

After 1949 the club flourished again.

They joined the Fürstenfeldbruck singers' circle and took part in the annual circle singing.

In other respects, too, people were very active at secular and church celebrations.

Over 2000 visitors singing in circles

In 1963 the 14th Kreissingen was organized for the first time in Luttenwang by the MVG.

"Luttenwang could not have coped with the onslaught of around 2,000 visitors, singers and guests," wrote the Brucker Tagblatt at the time.

In 2005, a circle singing took place in Luttenwang for the second time on the occasion of the 1250th anniversary of the Adelshofen district.

The MGV also organized the 12th Children's and Youth Choir in Adelshofen, where 20 children's and youth choirs gave their best.

The regular rehearsals take place every Thursday in the Frietinger inn, in keeping with the motto composed by Stefan Hermann for the Luttenwanger MGV: “Courageous and free, honest and true, firm and straight in every act.” and a play on two or three other days.

The singing club also contributes to the musical entertainment.

Likewise, the musical arrangement of the services and, for many years, also at the patron saint belongs to the annual program of the MVG.

This is how the anniversary is celebrated

The celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Luttenwang men's singing club begin on Friday, September 23, with a festive evening in the Frietinger-Stadl at 7 p.m.

The choral societies from Walleshausen, Kissing, Steinbach, Adelshofen and the church choir from Grunertshofen will be there.

On Sunday, September 25, a festive service will be held in the Marienkirche in Luttenwang to commemorate the deceased.

Then the big procession to the Gasthaus Frietinger starts.
