The Director General of Customs, Dr. Majid Omran, discussed with the head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside Samer Al-Debs, the chamber’s treasurer Muhammad Ayman Mawlawi and a number of members of the Chamber’s Mineral Oils Committee, the prices of base oils according to the international price bulletin “ICIS” and the need to distinguish between imported oils From Europe or from East Asia.
During their meeting today at the Customs Directorate, the members of the committee demanded that the indicative prices for these materials issued by the Minister of Finance and the Directorate of General Customs be approved in support of the Syrian industry from retreating and competition and opening foreign export markets.
The members made it clear that all Syrian factories are working to secure the local market's need of motor oils, mineral greases and industrial oils of all kinds, and the industrialist bears a great burden in order to secure raw and oil materials under difficult circumstances.
Al-Dibs noted the simplification of the procedures related to the clearance of goods and the directing of the Director of Customs to the customs police in the presence of a representative of the Chamber of Industry with the police when they enter the industrial establishments.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to cooperate through a partnership to solve the issue of oils and all the issues raised.
This meeting comes within the framework of seeking and working with the strategy of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, the necessity of consolidating the principle of consultation with all parties, properly diagnosing problems, and setting basic standards of interest to industrialists, including simplifying procedures related to the clearance of goods.
