At the federal level, the FDP governs together with the Greens and the SPD.
In Lower Saxony, on the other hand, the Liberals are bringing out the heavy artillery.
Hanover – At the federal level, the FDP is in the traffic light coalition together with the Greens and SPD.
Before the Lower Saxony election, the Lower Saxony FDP wants to call on people not to vote for both parties.
According to the
Tagesspiegel
, the state parties would like to distribute postcards that say: "Save prosperity - prevent red-green".
Only the FDP can prevent red-green from winning the election.
"Red-green in Lower Saxony means ideology before reason," it says on the cards.
They want to "increase the pressure on the Greens in Berlin" to keep the three nuclear power plants still connected to the grid running.
“The three remaining nuclear power plants have to remain connected to the grid longer so that electricity and heat remain affordable.
The prices have to go down!” it says on the postcards, which the FDP’s top candidate Stefan Birkner, like other party colleagues, repeatedly demands.
Lower Saxony election: FDP attacks SPD and Greens
"In this phase, when energy prices are rising and we are reducing our dependency on Russian gas, we need the three remaining nuclear power plants in Germany to remain connected to the grid - including the one in Lingen in Lower Saxony," said Birkner recently.
However, he does not want to show any consideration for his brother-in-law, Habeck.

"Regardless of the fact that Robert Habeck and I are related by marriage, know and appreciate each other, I just think it's good policy not to attack and hurt each other personally," the FDP politician said.
"I want to continue to do it that way, also when dealing with Robert Habeck," added Birkner.
The Federal Greens left a press inquiry from

unanswered for “capacity reasons”.
Polls for the Lower Saxony election: will the FDP enter the state parliament?
According to surveys, the FDP is currently at six to seven percent.
It is therefore unclear whether the party will be able to clear the five percent hurdle.
In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia, the Liberals each lost more than five percentage points of votes.
The FDP in Lower Saxony fears a loss of votes in the upcoming state elections on October 9th.
In the spring, the FDP had already lost more than five percentage points in Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia compared to the previous state elections.
