Generation change in the state parliament candidate: Regensburg SPD no longer wants Wild

A clear result: the SPD Regensburg chooses Sebastian Koch as their state parliament candidate and gives the incumbent MP a defeat.

Regensburg - It doesn't get much clearer than that.

Already in the first ballot, the Regensburg SPD nominated the Mayor of Wenzenbach, Sebastian Koch, as their candidate for the upcoming state elections – with 27 out of 48 votes and although there were three opposing candidates.

Clear rejection: only seven votes for MP Margit Wild

On the other hand, the delegates gave the incumbent MP Margit Wild a clear rejection.

she receives only seven votes and has to vacate her place in the Maximilianeum.

Only Josef Reithmair from the SPD local association in Burgweinting did worse.

He gets no vote at all.

In mid-June, Wild caused considerable irritation when, contrary to earlier announcements and without consulting her party friends, she publicly announced that she now wanted to run again.

There was sometimes unusually clear criticism, for example from the Jusos.

The candidacy of the 64-year-old led to internal discussions, which should then at least give an image of harmony to the outside world.

Internally, however, the situation was shattered.

It has been clear since the weekend: Margit Wild will no longer play a major role in the election campaign next year.

She takes note of the rejection of her renewed candidacy with a stoic look at her mobile phone.

The situation a few rows further back is different.

Then the tension of the last few weeks seems to gradually ease off.

A smile spreads, first hands are extended.

There is loud applause from the Jusos.

Wildly voted out: there has been criticism for a long time

Ronja Endres, the leader of the Bavarian SPD, comes running happily and hugs her party friend.

She threw her hat in the ring herself in mid-June, but withdrew it a few days before the election.

Thomas Burger, SPD parliamentary group leader in the city council, comes in second with 14 votes. He is also one of the first to congratulate.

Wild has been a member of the state parliament since 2008 and is regarded as an educational policy expert for her party.

However, especially in the past period, criticism of their lack of commitment and presence on site has often been voiced.

Underhand, but also public.

Underdog SPD: Sebastian Koch wants to do it like the Greeks

Despite his current success, Sebastian Koch, who has now been nominated, should know about the difficult situation in his party.

With poll numbers below ten percent, the SPD must first be mobilized inwards for the forthcoming election campaign.

"Let's all be Greeks," calls Koch into the room.

Their national football team unexpectedly won the European Championship in 2008 as a clear underdog with passion.

It remains to be seen whether Koch will take a seat in Munich from next fall and will depend above all on the overall result of the party and its placement on the district list.

The direct mandate for Regensburg is unlikely to be won for the SPD in this election either.

The Green Mistol is the favorite in the Regensburg constituency

In the city, the Green MP Jürgen Mistol is being traded secretly as the most promising candidate.

He has not yet officially announced his candidacy.

Bruno Lehmeier was elected as the direct candidate for the election of the Upper Palatinate district council with 30 votes.

The long-standing head of the staff council at the district hospital prevailed against city councilor Hans Holler, among others.

At the end of September, the candidates for the Regensburg-Land constituency will be determined.
