Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann sees the state in the "transition from the pandemic to the endemic" and does not currently consider any further corona protection measures to be necessary.
For him, this development means that he can switch “from the “caution team” to the “liberalization team”, said the Greens politician on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
“In the event of an endemic, people are responsible for themselves again.
Stuttgart - We're in that phase." There is currently no fear that the clinics will be overwhelmed, since the new Omikron variants are contagious, but do not lead to serious illnesses.
According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), an endemic describes a disease in a specific region that regularly affects a large part of the population.
In the case of Corona, this means that despite vaccinations and protective measures, the virus will not go away, but will keep reappearing, but with presumably mild symptoms.
Despite the new situation, Kretschmann regretted that the countries' toolbox in the fight against the pandemic was "poor".
But the Bundestag decided it that way.
In Corona politics, it was always important to him to be prepared for a new wave and to be able to react accordingly, he clarified.
The criticism that he was a "sharp dog" was "nonsense and not the case".
