In Lyon, people under the age of 18 will no longer be able to drive self-service scooters, since the two rental companies in the city of the Rhône - Dott and Tier - will now subject users to an identity check.
This information, revealed by our colleagues from Actu Lyon, was confirmed by the town hall of Lyon, questioned by TF1.

The city of Lyon has asked the two operators to make majority confirmation mandatory on their application (...), and this for all users (new or existing)

Dott's and Tier's apps now require users to send a copy of an ID, in order to make rental accessible.

In order to verify that you are of driving age, and at the request of the city, our trusted independent supplier will carry out a quick scan of your identity card, passport or driving license
", indicates the software of Dott.
This novelty comes as the summer of 2022 was marked by road accidents involving electric scooters.
Monday August 22, two teenagers aged 15 and 17 were killed in Lyon, knocked down by an ambulance.
According to information from Road Safety communicated to
Le Figaro
, the number of deaths linked to this mode of travel continues to increase: in 2021, 24 users of motorized personal transport devices (EDPM) were killed, compared to 7 in 2020 and 10 in 2019.
