Today, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, discussed with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodrigues ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, on the sidelines of their participation in the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, Ministers Miqdad and Rodrigues stressed the importance of enhancing coordination in international forums on issues of common interest and discussed the challenges resulting from the escalation of the United States of America's hostile military and economic policies against both countries, in addition to the negative effects resulting from the coercive measures imposed against them.
Minister Miqdad pointed out that the relations between the two friendly countries are historical and solid, and that there is no alternative to resisting American hegemony and moving forward in consolidating national sovereignty and resisting hostile policies against the peoples of the two countries.
For his part, Minister Rodriguez thanked Syria for its firm stance in support of Cuba in the face of the economic embargo imposed on it by the United States.
The meeting was attended by Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, Rania Al Haj Ali, Director of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences, and Ihab Hamed from the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
