Dog "Bim" lost his paws in the Ukraine war.

Seriously injured, he was rescued by animal rights activist Ralf Seeger and fitted with prostheses in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Kranenburg – Terrier mix “Bim” has experienced terrible things in his life, because the little four-legged friend was severely mutilated in the Ukraine war.

Severed paws, injuries to ears and tail show the brutality that Bim was helpless in his home country.

In contrast to some others, however, Bim was very lucky, because the four-legged friend was rescued and finally cared for by the prominent animal rights activist Ralf Seeger and his association "Helden für Animals - Tierhilfe International".

In North Rhine-Westphalia he is now receiving four leg prostheses made of silicone and the chance to lead an almost normal dog life again, reports 24RHEIN.

In Kranenburg on the Lower Rhine (Kreis Kleve), the four-legged friend took his first steps on his spare paws.

A friend of mine, an orthopedic technician, had made this especially for Bim, says the prominent animal rights activist Ralf Seeger, known from the Vox documentary series "Hard Dogs", to the

.

A prosthesis had to be adjusted afterwards because the dog was in pain, says Seeger.

Walking with the artificial paws takes a lot of getting used to for the little one.

"But I am sure that we will get him back on his feet." Fortunately, the terrier mix does not have to endure any further operations.

The prostheses were specially made for Bim and are intended to help him walk.

At the end of August, the association posted several photos of Bim on Facebook, showing how helpers made impressions for his spare paws.

“The new prostheses should be ready next week.

Then it's off to training and physiotherapy.” It says under the photos.

NRW: rescue for dog Bim – helpers brought mutilated animal to Germany

The fact that Bim has made it this far is primarily thanks to the volunteer helpers in the Ukraine, who discovered the seriously injured animal whimpering on the street and did not want to simply abandon the terrier mix to its fate.

For Bim, it was rescue in dire need: Because in his own home country, you couldn't have taken care of him, says Seeger, who has been involved in animal welfare for 40 years.

But the helpers showed heart and brought "Bim" to the west of the country, where Seeger was filming for Vox.

From there it finally went on to Germany.

Unbelievable suffering for animals in the Ukraine war - "Gunshot wounds in the back or shrapnel in the body"

Bombs, grenades and other weapons of war – people and animals in Ukraine are exposed to all of this on a daily basis.

Bim's story is by no means an isolated case, according to the animal rights activist.

It is unbelievable what suffering many dogs experience in war zones, says Seeger.

His association “Heroes for Animals - Animal Aid International” treated animals with gunshot wounds in the back or shrapnel all over their bodies.
