In the video: Parkour activity in Israel (Parkour Israel Association)

The 23-year-old young man who was seriously injured last night (Monday) after being electrocuted at the train station in Rishon Lezion, apparently intended to engage in parkour activities.

The young man, who is still hospitalized unconscious, apparently climbed one of the electric poles, or train cars, after telling his friends he was going to perform stunts, touched a cable and was electrocuted.

Parkour is an extreme sport characterized, among other things, by running and jumping between houses and roofs.

One of the things that attracts those involved in the industry is the excitement and adrenaline during the activity.

But sometimes, the hobby can be expensive, even fatal.

About a month ago, a 17-year-old boy was killed in Hong Kong, after falling 13 stories from a building in Tsim Sha Tsui.

He and his friends climbed to the roof of a 15-story building, but the boy missed the landing in one of the stunts and fell to his death when he landed on the second floor.

In June, Joshua Connell, a 19-year-old Australian tourist, was killed when he fell to his death from the roof of a hotel on the island of Phuket in Thailand.

Witnesses who were there said that Connell was walking on a wall near the hotel pool, which is located on the roof, but at one point he slipped and fell from a height of 15 meters.

The local rescue forces found his body on the roof of a cafe located below the hotel.

"Unfortunately, despite our many efforts in front of the authorities, there is no authority that has established a public facility for parkour training, so people train in the street, in public parks, in fitness parks and playgrounds," says Aharon Zarfati, chairman of the Israel Parkour association.

According to Zarfati, the training for the sport does not include climbing on trains. "I am very sorry for the incident and I hope that the young man will return to health, but this is not an activity that characterizes the parkour we do in Israel.

As far as I am concerned, and from the point of view of my entire community of trainers in Israel, parkour is a sport and it is treated with the necessary professionalism and responsibility."

Farfati emphasizes that those involved in the industry undergo training in order to maintain their safety. "The trainees come to organized training sessions, receive training and instructions and do the necessary gradation and risk management.

Those who train in our community are exposed to the challenge in a gradual way and there is no reason to put yourself in a life-threatening situation,
