Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, gave his first speech before the UN General Assembly.
The president referred to the war on drugs and called for an end to this "irrational" struggle.
"Reducing drug use does not need wars, it needs all of us to build a better society," he said.
He also assured that the climate crisis will be the extinction of humanity.
"Wars have served you to avoid climate struggle. I invite you to stop war and prevent climate disaster," he added.
