Farewell to their "Gan Gan" Queen Elizabeth II: Prince George and Princess Charlotte say goodbye in Westminster Abbey - but seem hopelessly overwhelmed.

Update from September 19, 2022, 1:20 p.m .:

Bitter tears and helplessness – As announced in advance, Prince George (9) and Princess Charlotte (7) are part of the procession to say goodbye to their great-grandmother properly.

However, the scope of the event does not seem to be so clear to the young heirs to the throne.

"Georgie" shifts nervously in his chair, immerses himself in the program and then lets his gaze wander helplessly and restlessly through Westminster Abbey.

Even his younger sister, affectionately known as Lotti, apparently doesn't quite know how to classify the procedure.

With a questioning expression, she looks at Mama Kate, followed by a short, nervous browsing through the program.

Then the look back to the crying New Princess of Wales.

Despite mum's whispered words, both Charlotte and George have nowhere to go in the packed nave of the iconic abbey.

– London – In the final hours after ten days of mourning Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022), Prince William (40) and Princess Charlotte (40) had a not easy one To make a decision.

The decision of the prince couple has been made.

Once there, they will join the train and, together with their parents and the royal family, follow their great-grandmother's coffin into the venerable walls of Westminster Abbey.

It's a mighty march and a great emotional drain on the Cornwall and Cambridge children.

The day of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral:

The last members of the queue that have formed in London since Wednesday will have said goodbye to the Queen early in the morning at Westminster Hall.

Her Majesty's coffin will be transferred to Westminster Abbey for an hour-long funeral service attended by heads of state, kings and foreign dignitaries;

Prince Harry (38) and Meghan Markle (41), the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are also taking part in the procession and will be present at the funeral service;

In the afternoon the coffin of the late monarch will be taken to St George's Chapel in Windsor for the burial.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, Her Majesty's coffin will be lowered into the Royal Vault at St George's Chapel in Windsor, where she will come to rest alongside Prince Philip and her family.

Last year "Georgie" and "Lotti" attended the funeral of their great-grandfather Prince Philip (99, † 2021), now they will have the opportunity to say goodbye to their majesty, their beloved "Gan Gan".

Great Britain is making history, it is a highly emotional moment for parents and grandparents, of course it can happen that the youngest ones have an emotional outburst in front of millions of spectators and high-ranking guests of state in public.

But apparently Kate and William trust their children to say goodbye.
