Rescue for a drunk visitor: Wiesn investigators are just able to prevent an attack

Pickpocket investigators prevented a sexual assault near the Oktoberfest.

The 27-year-old victim was visibly intoxicated.

The suspect is on the loose again.

Munich – Specially trained pickpocket investigators traveled to the Oktoberfest last week.

Their duties include catching pickpockets in the act and taking them into custody in cooperation with the Munich police.

Through their work, they make the Oktoberfest a bit safer for visitors.

Oktoberfest 2022: Pickpockets prevent sexual assault

For a young woman from Munich, the investigators were now the savior in need.

On the night of September 20th, pickpocket flags from Frankfurt and Munich were out and about near the Oktoberfest grounds around 12.40 a.m.

They observed a male attempting to perform sexual acts on a 27-year-old woman by grabbing her skirt.

According to a press release from the Munich police, the 27-year-old from Munich was visibly drunk when the man tried to attack her.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested on the spot and taken to the Wiesn guard.

After the police measures were completed, the man who lived in the Ebersberg district was released.

The special investigators had already achieved success on the first Wiesn weekend.

Pickpocket investigators prevented several jacket and pickpocket thefts - among the drunk Wiesn visitors, the thieves usually had an easy time in the filled marquee.

One of the perpetrators previously worked as a cleaner at the Wiesn.
