Shaked: Apologizing to my supporters for entering the government, I should not have backed Bennett

The Minister of the Interior and the Chairman of the Jewish Home, Ayelet Shaked, apologized to her supporters this evening (Tuesday) for having a hand in the formation of the current government. "I ask for forgiveness from my supporters, from my beloved audience, whose heart was broken when I joined the process of forming the last government," she said at the launch of her party's campaign for the elections In
her speech, she talked about the time when she decided to enter the Bennett-Lapid government. "I did everything to exhaust the possibility of forming a right-wing government, but Gideon Sa'ar and Bezalel Smotrich torpedoed the move," she accused. "I made the most difficult decision in my public life - I backed Bennett leader of my party and I joined the government.
" "I know that the decision hurt many of you, those who sent me to the Knesset," she continued. "Some of you did not want this government and I was a member of it.
The decision broke a million hearts of people who supported us for ten years, who were with us the whole way."

Shaked also referred to the possibility that she would resign from the government.
"This is the easy act," she claimed.
"Politically, I will probably benefit from such a march. But it would be a mistake. Fundamentally, it would be an irresponsible act towards the values in whose name you elected me. As of today, I am the one who maintains the values of the national camp in the government. My resignation will make it easier for the ministers of the government to lead controversial and far-reaching measures."
"History will testify that for one moment I did not stop being loyal to the way. My deeds and actions will testify to that," she claimed.
"Even my harshest critics will not find even a shred of deed or statement that indicates that I chose a different path, that I changed my positions, that I violated the values for which I came into politics.
