The Ministry of Health updated today (Tuesday) that an investigation committee was appointed into the circumstances that led to a mistake during in vitro fertilization in a patient at Assuta Rishon Lezion Hospital.
The committee will formulate systemic conclusions and recommendations for improving the in vitro fertilization system in Israel and submit them by the end of the year.
The committee will be chaired by Prof. Ami Fishman, deputy director of the Rabin Medical Center, director of the quality, safety and risk management department.
Other members will be Prof. Galia Oron, Director of the Fertility and In Vitro Fertilization Unit at the Carmel Medical Center, Dr. Iris Har-Verdi, Director of the Fertility and In Vitro Fertilization Unit Laboratory in Soroka, retired judge Verda Maroz and Attorney Rafi Toizer, legal advisor at the Acceptance Commission the public at the Ministry of Health.
