Farewell to summer!

With Deep Queenie, the heat disappears, cold air comes to Bavaria.

With her probably also the first snow and a high risk of frost.

Munich – "Weather is not a request," says meteorologist Dominik Jung in the latest weather video on the

wetternet

YouTube channel .

Because if it were, we certainly wouldn't want an unusually cold Indian summer, especially given the current high energy prices.

But that is exactly what will happen this year.

Wetternet

even titles her YouTube video "The total crash"

- because after pleasantly high temperatures in the past few days, it is now getting significantly colder.

Due to severe storms, there had only recently been flooding and thunderstorm damage in the Upper Palatinate.

Weather in Bavaria: The first snow in the Alps – does it stay?

North wind will bring cool air to Bavaria next weekend, September 17th and 18th, explains Jan Schenk in the latest video on

weather.com

.

"Of course, that's not enough for snow in the lowlands, but the snow line is falling, falling and falling," says the meteorologist.

"There can be flakes up to 1200 meters," explains Jung in the

wetternet

video.

The experts agree: there is a high probability of snow in the Alps.

It's getting unusually cold in Bavaria for this time of year - even the meteorologists are surprised.

But what does that mean exactly?

According to Schenk, it will snow in the next few days from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday in the Alps from 1200 meters above sea level.

And: "The snow stays at least in the morning".

Although this first snow will melt away again, Schenk explains, it will remain cool in Bavaria for the time being.

Even after the cold weekend with the first snowflakes, it initially remains unusually cold for September.

In Bavaria, temperatures between Monday, September 19th and Wednesday, September 21st will settle at around ten to 15 degrees.

On Thursday, September 22nd, there is even a risk of frost: "Wow, we have quite a risk of frost in the south," explains Schenk in the video on

weather.com

.

Schenk's weather map also shows that the frost is stretching to the outskirts of Munich.

According to forecasts by meteorologist Jan Schnek, the frost will last until shortly before Munich.

"Overall very changeable early autumn weather and clearly too cool for the current time of year," summarizes Jung in the

wetternet

video on YouTube.

On Sunday, September 18th in particular, the temperatures in Bavaria will drop to a daily high of nine to ten degrees.

To put it mildly: there have been better weather forecasts for a first Oktoberfest weekend.
