The Poing model railway club presents itself, its layout and other clubs at the 17th Poing model railway days at the weekend.

Among other things, you can see a mountain landscape.

Poing – The trains stood more or less still for four years, and they will be running again next weekend: after the restrictions imposed by the corona pandemic, the Poing model railway club will be organizing again on Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th, in the Poing triple gymnasium in the sports center his model railway days.

For the 17th time.

The last event so far took place in 2018, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the association.

Now, after the forced break, the anticipation is great, reports club chairman Hans Roming.

Finally, the approximately 30 members (aged 12 to 75) can publicly present their own facility again and let the trains run through the mountains.

Mountains?

Yes, miniature mountains!

The model railway club presents its approximately 25 to 30 meter long mountain layout, on which the model railway trains run on the H0 gauge.

In recent years (except during the lockdown periods), the members in the clubhouse in Anzing-Obelfing have revised the facility.

With lighting and – premiered at the weekend in Poing – with a large background image.

It was painted by the sister of a club member who lives in Mittersill (Pinzgau) in Austria.

"It looks awesome," Roming enthuses.

American railway and Berchtesgaden station

The chairman of the association announced that three more systems would be set up in the triple hall: by the Eisenbahnfreunde München Süd-Ost from Otterfing (Miesbach district), by the German Trak association (which specialized in North American model railways in N gauge) and by Rudolf Stiller, who faithfully recreated the Berchtesgaden station, which was closed in 1960, as an N-gauge layout.

The exhibition in the Poinger Dreifachturnhalle is open on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is one euro for children/teenagers aged 7 to 17, and four euros for those aged 18 and over.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

In 1993, some model railway enthusiasts in Poing came together to form an interest group, which two years later adopted a statute.

The association was founded in early 1999.

In the early years, the model railway builders met in the former evangelical community center on Schulstraße in Poing-Süd, later in the sports center.

But here, too, the space became too small, which is why the model railway club moved to Gelting (municipality of Pliening) in a large trailer on the Zehmerhof.

Since the spring of 2014, the Poing model railway club has been based in an abandoned farm in Anzing-Obelfing.

For the first time, the model railway days in Poing will not take place in November this year, but in September.

"We deliberately brought the event forward because nobody knows whether and which corona restrictions there will be in late autumn and after the Oktoberfest," says Chairman Hans Roming.
