A vintage car was recovered from a lake in the Upper Palatinate - it had probably been there for a long time.

The police are now looking for the owner of the Audi 100 Coupé S.

Tännesberg - A vintage car was found in a reservoir in the Upper Palatinate.

Sonar images were taken because renovation work was due to be carried out on a hydroelectric power station in Tännesberg (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district).

The police announced on Thursday, September 15th.

Sonar devices use sound pulses to locate objects under water.

The images then suggested a hatchback car.

Police divers salvaged the Audi 100 Coupé S about a month and a half ago.

Because of the corrosion, the investigators assume that the vintage car has been lying on the bottom of the Pfreimdstausee for a long time.

Vintage car recovered from the lake in Bavaria – connection to a crime?

When examining the wreck, the TÜV sticker from the 1980s and the Schwandorf license plate could be deciphered.

30,000 of the model were produced between 1968 and 1976, the police said.

Since it cannot be ruled out that the vehicle is connected to a serious crime, the police are now asking for information from the population.

The police did not say what kind of crime it could be.
