The social media department of the Munich police enjoys great popularity around the Oktoberfest.

There is something new on Twitter for Oktoberfest 2022.

Munich – "Three shots, two years, on a peaceful #Wiesn".

It was on Saturday (September 17) at the Oktoberfest tapping the Twitter posting that the Munich police also ceremoniously opened the Oktoberfest again after a total of three years of a corona-related break.

Presumably in the hope of getting as little to do as possible.

After all, in the last edition in 2019, a total of 469 criminal offenses had to be prosecuted.

Only on the Theresienwiese, the folk festival area in the middle of the Isar metropolis.

Munich police at the Oktoberfest: Hashtag #Wiesnwache is missing on Twitter

Expectantly, a user commented on the tweet: "Finally #Wiesnwache again!" She probably didn't mean the police container of the same name at the Wiesn, which is sometimes the focus of attention.

But the talent of the social media department from the Munich police headquarters to rhetorically and diplomatically package what happens at the Oktoberfest.

Even if individual experiences might not be so nice, for example completely drunk teenagers.

In 2016, a post with the following text received over 3,000 likes: "Drunk 17-year-old girl just picked up by her parents.

Colleagues are still sitting trembling in the #Wiesnwache after the father has spoken.” Just one example among many.

With the start of Oktoberfest 2022 (September 17th to October 3rd), some social media followers expected the return of the legendary hashtag.

Ultimately in vain.

A user asked: "Are the tweets from the Oktoberfest guard coming again?"

Honestly, we're all waiting for that!" Another user asked: "Hey Munich police, are there any tweets from the Wiesnwache this year?" Another Twitter user was very impatient on the day of the Oktoberfest tapping: "Munich police, will there be the #wiesnwache again this year – and if so, when?” When it became clear that postings would probably not be made permanently under the said hashtag on social media, one user said disappointed: “I miss the #wiesnwache this year.

I'll tell you how it is."

Munich police on Twitter: #Wiesnschmankerl instead of #Wiesnwache for the Oktoberfest

While the disappointment on social media was great for a short time, the Munich police promptly had an alternative ready: the #Wiesnschmankerl.

This hashtag is tweeted at a lower frequency, but no less amusing and creative.

For example, a tweet on Tuesday (September 20th) read: “Hungry or beastly?

Rather #hangry.

When a Swiss woman was complimented from the beer tent, she bit the steward's hand.

That gave a dental impression for the steward and an ad for the Swiss woman.

#holeylikeaSwisscheese"

The Munich police wrote about another incident: "It was a measure, no ned voi!

To quench his thirst, a guest hopped over the counter after closing time and introduced self-service in the taproom.

At the exit, we took his liquid prey from him.

#Weghoibe"

Oktoberfest: Munich police have to pursue a number of crimes at the Oktoberfest

Unfortunately, things aren't always that fun.

Sometimes the police from the Wiesn have to report serious crimes.

For example, on the first Sunday evening (September 20), a young man from Munich was arrested after allegedly kicking a 21-year-old man from Essen who was lying on the ground.

Good that there are also less serious Oktoberfest delicacies instead ...
