The riots in Iran following the killing of Mahasa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, by the country's modesty police spread tonight to most parts of the country and turned into a series of clashes between angry young people and the regime's forces.
A student rally in Tehran turned into a violent riot when forces of the Basij, a militia of the Revolutionary Guards used to suppress riots, tried to disperse the rally with violence.
In videos distributed online, dozens of young men are seen beating Basij men, freeing the.
Their friends who were arrested and turn into a minibus that was used by the militiamen to transport detainees.

In other videos, young women were seen dancing on top of police cars set on fire by angry protesters.
Burning a headscarf became a symbol of protest and many women were seen in demonstrations without a hijab.
Local media reported that protesters set up barricades on Hafiz Street, one of the main streets in the city.
In a video released from the scene, protesters are seen removing the portrait of Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, from a nearby building.
During the night, the protest spread to new cities outside of Tehran and the Kurdish region, where the protest has been focused until now.
Crowds demonstrated tonight in the city of Tabriz in Azerbaijan as well as in the cities of Qom, Arak, Hamadan, Mashhad, Gurgan, Zanjan, Kermansha and more.
In the Kurdish region, the funerals of those killed in yesterday's protests were held.
According to the reports, five members of Tegan, including a sixty-year-old woman, were killed by the regime.

Yesterday the authorities in Iran changed their tone regarding the killing of the young woman.
The President of Iran, Ebrahim Raesi, announced that there will be an investigation into the affair in which the young woman Mahasa Amini was killed.
Amini, 22 years old and a resident of the Kurdish region of Iran, was arrested in the capital Tehran for an offense related to her head covering and was held by the modesty police.
Head scan photos showed that the young woman was severely beaten on the head and bruised as a result of internal bleeding.
Until yesterday, the regime refused to comment on the case and a message to Konit was issued claiming that the young woman, whose name was not mentioned, died of a "heart attack".
