After patrol cars stopped receiving calls about break-ins: surge in demand for safes Israel today

2022-09-21T21:14:51.491Z

In the shadow of the new police procedure not to send forces to theft incidents - a 25% increase in the demand for renting safes to keep valuable personal belongings • In Jerusalem the numbers are even higher and reach 32%

In recent days, the police published a document in which it was stated that they will apply a new procedure: from now on no mobiles will be sent in case of theft of property from houses.

The procedure was established due to the desire to reduce the load on patrol vehicles - but there are those who benefit from the whole thing.

In Israel there are more than 50,000 incidents of theft per year, including thefts of objects, money, vehicles, infrastructure, bicycles and various products.

Last week, an internal police document was published, in which it states the new guidelines for handling theft incidents, with the aim of streamlining the incidents and reducing the burden on the various patrol vehicles.

It was also noted that the change in procedures will even shorten the response time of patrol vehicles if they are required for this, without harming the quality of service and the citizen's sense of security.

According to the new procedure, a mobile will not be sent to theft incidents unless it is an unusual incident, such as - in cases where the suspect of committing the crime is present at the scene of the crime and it is necessary to detain or detain him, in cases of theft of illegal drugs, or in an incident that combines suspicion of illegal drugs.

Also, the procedure will not apply if the reporter is an elderly person with difficulties, a person with disabilities or a minor, and also if there is evidence at the scene that the patrol car can obtain.

Instead of the patrol car, the dispatchers will direct the complainants to file a complaint online, or instruct them to come to the police station closest to their home and file the complaint in an orderly manner at the station.

The message of the police, it turns out, did not fall on deaf ears.

Attorney Dvir Indig, CEO of Brixton's safe complexes, says that following the publication of the new police procedure, there is a significant increase in the demand for renting safes in secure safe complexes.

Indig noted: "Most of the safes in recent days are rented to private homeowners, whose apartment insurance policy has an option to include a safe in a private safe complex."

Brixton has two secure safe complexes in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, which include a total of about 6,000 safes.

Although according to the CBS, 'only' about 5% of households experience a break-in every year, Brixton reports an average increase of 25% in the whole country in the demand for renting safes, and in Jerusalem an increase of more than 32% was reported in renting safes to maintain Personal belongings, jewelry, money and more."
