With the new Apple Watch 8, Apple promises an evolutionary development over the previous model, the Series 7. How big are the differences really?

These should help you decide whether it's worth switching from the Apple Watch 7 to the new Apple Watch Series 8.

• Price:

  The new Apple Watch 8 is available with a 41 mm aluminum case and GPS for 499 euros.

  This is the cheapest version.

  Depending on the features, color, material and strap, the price can go up to 949 euros.

  The Apple Watch Series 7 is currently available for around 417 euros.

  Here, too, the price can go up.

• Dust protection:

  Both the Apple Watch 7 and the new version are water-resistant up to 50 meters.

  Thanks to IP6X, the Apple Watch Series 8 also has dust protection.

• 256-fold acceleration sensor:

  Apple has made significant advancements in the acceleration sensor.

  This sensor detects an acceleration of up to 256 times and is particularly helpful for accident detection.

  As a result, the Apple Watch 8 can even automatically make an emergency call in the event of a car accident.

• International roaming:

  The cellular models finally have mobile data and services abroad.

  This was not possible until Watch Series 7.

Switching to the new Apple Watch is therefore only worthwhile for users of older versions.
