US President Joe Biden reiterated Wednesday, September 21 at the UN that the United States calls for the creation of a Palestinian state but he did not announce any initiative to relaunch peace negotiations with Israel.

"

We will continue to advocate for a negotiated and lasting peace between the Jewish democratic state of Israel and the Palestinian people,

" Trump said in a speech to the UN General Assembly.

He stressed that the two-state solution "

remains from our perspective the best way to ensure Israel's security and prosperity in the future and to provide the Palestinians with a state to which they are entitled

."

President Biden had made similar remarks during his visit to Israel and the Occupied Territories last July, without obtaining any particular progress.

Joe Biden was content to meet with leaders on both sides, announcing financial aid to the Palestinians and a project to deploy 4G in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians have stalled since 2014. Relations between the United States and the Palestinians have certainly improved since Joe Biden succeeded the very pro-Israel Donald Trump, but some Palestinians believe that his administration is too timorous and focused on economic programs rather than settling the political issue.
