You can spend your money lavishly at the Oktoberfest.

Our reporter tests how far visitors can get on a Oktoberfest day for 50 euros.

Munich - 50 euros is a lot of money.

But what about the Wiesn?

Is a fifty enough for the Oktoberfest fun?

Our reporter Yannick Thedens tried it out:

Let's go at lunchtime.

Not much is happening on the Theresienwiese yet, the atmosphere is quiet, there is enough space and the people are in a good mood.

I'm heading straight for the Hofbräu tent.

I don't want to start the day at the Oktoberfest hungry.

Half a chicken and a mass will fill your stomach, but will also empty your wallet in record time.

The chicken costs me 13.80 euros, I pay 13.60 euros for the beer.

At 9.90 euros, one of the daily specials would certainly have been the cheaper option.

The good food and good atmosphere have more than halved my daily budget.

Oktoberfest: Ride on the Ferris wheel costs ten euros

Freshly strengthened, I would now like to get an overview of the area.

And what better place to do that than on the big Ferris wheel!

A ten-euro note changes hands at the ticket booth – that's how much the ticket costs for an adult.

I therefore intend to enjoy the expensive round in a very special way.

Back on the ground, I make a preliminary checkout.

The result grounded me after the heavenly gondola tour: I only have 12.60 euros left for the rest of my stroll.

I try my luck at the shooting gallery.

The pricing there is pretty simple: one shot, one euro.

I decide for four shots, so I have to shell out four euros.

It could have gone worse: every shot hits.

After all, the money was well spent, I harvest four roses as a reward.

Time for another little refreshment.

A stand lures with fragrant roasted almonds.

I've never been able to say no to that.

So another 4.50 euros for a 100 gram bag over the counter.

50 euros are tight for a Oktoberfest day

4.10 euros are now left.

Investing the remaining money sensibly becomes a real challenge.

After a while I notice a booth with gingerbread hearts.

One of the gorgeously decorated gingerbread hearts would be a fitting memento of the day at Theresienwiese, but the budget is clearly not up to it.

In the end, it's just enough for the mini version.

At this point, my Wiesn day should actually be over, because there is nothing left of the fifty from the beginning.

I still stay and just let myself drift and watch how the festival area fills up more and more with visitors from all over the world.

Finally full life again after a two-year break.

That feels good.

One thing is certain for me today: nothing will be bought anymore.

But: It was nice!
