Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck wants to stick to the controversial gas levy despite the planned nationalization of the gas supplier Uniper - at least for the time being.
Berlin – Despite the planned nationalization of the Düsseldorf energy group Uniper, Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) is sticking to the controversial gas levy.
The gas surcharge will “come” on October 1st, the minister said on Wednesday morning at a press conference in Berlin.
It is necessary from the bridge to ensure Uniper's financial solidity.
However, the implementation of the planned nationalization will take three months.
Whether the surcharge can still be levied in accordance with the constitution when Uniper is a state-owned company is a legitimate question.
Audits of the financial constitution were in full swing.
His ministry had previously announced that the Uniper group, which was badly hit by a lack of Russian gas supplies, would be nationalized.
