In view of the falling temperatures, summer is probably over for good.

But how cold does it really get in winter?

Munich – One or the other had to rub his eyes in disbelief when looking at the thermometer in the morning.

In some cases, values of less than 10 degrees have already been displayed.

Hard to believe, it felt like we were all sweating in the sun two weeks ago and complaining about the high temperatures.

That's over now - autumn and winter are upon us.

After an initial forecast, which was initially quite mild, the American weather service NOAA is now correcting itself in its statements.

The winter in Europe and Germany could obviously be colder than originally assumed.

Weather: Winter colder than expected?

Moderate deviation of 0.5 to 1 degree

One of the warmest summers on record is in the bones all over the world.

This summer was also one of the driest in Germany.

Not only nature thirsts for falling temperatures and precipitation.

All of this will come in the coming weeks and months.

The US weather agency NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is changing its forecast for the European and German winter.

Originally, the American meteorologists assumed that the winter would be significantly too warm.

Especially from December to February - actually the coldest months of the year - it should have been up to two degrees warmer on average.

According to NOAA, that has now changed.

The average temperature deviation should only be a maximum of one degree plus.

And February in particular is supposed to be average or a little colder.

The German Weather Service reports something similar.

According to the experts, the three winter months of December, January and February are only around 0.5 to one degree too warm.

Weather forecasts are subject to change

Given the high energy prices, many would probably be happy about a rather warmer winter, so that the heating does not have to be switched on as often.

But it doesn't look like that at the moment.

Of course, the forecasts by NOAA and the DWD are not set in stone and can still change over time.

In Bavaria, too, it looks rather dreary and gray and less like a golden autumn in the coming days.
