The health authorities in Pakistan today announced an outbreak of malaria in the flood-stricken areas.
Reuters quoted the authorities as saying: “The number of deaths from this disease has reached 324, and hundreds of thousands of displaced people are living in the open due to the floods, where stagnant water at a distance of hundreds of kilometers, which may take two to six months to recede, has led to the spread of other diseases such as skin infections.” eye, diarrhea, typhoid and dengue fever.”
The floods have so far destroyed 50,940 thousand homes, while the death toll has reached 1,569 dead and 12,860 injured.
