Prime Minister Yair Lapid is wrong in every parameter when he brings up again and with full force his vision for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
The last 25 years have taught that the obsessive preoccupation with the Palestinian issue achieves the opposite result.
Because expectations for an agreement give rise to disappointments, and disappointments lead to terrorism.
What's more, Lapid knows that there is no possibility of an agreement in the foreseeable future.
He himself has said this countless times in recent years.
And if so, what will change?
Lapid also misses the mark when he floats the "two states" idea because of the fear of a "binational state".
Because indeed, the Arab residents of Judea and Samaria and Gaza are unfortunately denied the elementary right to choose and be chosen.
But - and every Israeli official should memorize this message to his interlocutors - Israel is not the cause of this suppression of rights.
The one who does not allow the Palestinians to go to the polls is their own leadership, and only it.

The last elections for the Palestinian institutions were in 2006.
Since then, it is the chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, who prevents his residents from going to the polls again.
The West justifies this policy out of fear that Israel is also complicit, that Hamas will win the elections.
But it was not Israel that prevented the elections, but Abu Mazen and only him.
So from Malpid and below, the Israeli representatives should stop taking responsibility, or apologise, for our faults we have no connection or responsibility for them.
The Palestinians have a political entity that represents them and for many years it has not been democratic.
were we wrong
We will fix it!
