Cuxhaven – On Monday (September 19th, 2022) a senior with a folding bike caused the emergency braking of a freight train and a large-scale search operation by the police.
According to the police report, the approximately 65-year-old stranger crossed the tracks on the Bremen – Bremerhaven railway line in the area of a slaughterhouse in Loxstedt-Düring in Lower Saxony at around 3:30 p.m.
The driver of a freight train heading towards Bremerhaven just saw the man and immediately initiated emergency braking.
According to his own statement, however, he assumed that he had run over the man.

Federal police officers secured the impact marks of a bicycle on the locomotive, but could not find any human traces.
It is completely unclear whether the unknown senior could be injured in the vicinity of the forest and meadow area.
A federal police helicopter with a thermal imaging camera, a rescue dog and drone squadron from the fire brigade, the Loxstedt fire brigade, an ambulance, an emergency doctor, a railway emergency manager and the police were deployed in the search.
The unknown man was not found, which is why the search finally ended after three hours.

The double-track railway was reopened at 6:38 p.m.
Due to the search operation, numerous trains were delayed.
After the first witnesses, a suspected cyclist was checked, but his age does not fit.
