The Colombian singer assures that she is currently experiencing "her darkest hour" in an interview with the magazine 'Elle', in which she also defends her innocence of the crimes of fraud attributed to her by the Spanish Treasury

Almost four months after one of the most famous and media breaks, Shakira has broken her silence about her separation from Gerard Piqué.

The singer (Barranquilla, Colombia, 45 years old) assures that she is in "one of the most difficult and darkest hours" of her life and that, for her, writing music is "like going to the psychiatrist", her "castaway chart" after his separation from the Barcelona footballer after 12 years of relationship.

She is so forceful she has expressed herself in an interview that she publishes this Wednesday in the

Elle

Spain magazine.

The Colombian artist has also talked about what her union with Piqué, 35, with whom she has two children, Milan, nine years old, and Sasha, seven, meant for her and her career.

Shakira remembers that her ex-partner, whom she met during the World Cup in South Africa that Spain won, "wanted to play soccer and win titles" and she had to support him.

”Either he left his contract with Barcelona and moved to the United States with me, where my career is, or I would have to do that in his place.

And so, one of the two had to make that effort and that sacrifice.

And I did it.

I put my career on the back burner and came to Spain to support him so that he could play football and win titles.

And it was an act of love”, she confesses to herself now.

Shakira and Gerard Piqué announce that they are separating after 12 years of relationship

Last Thursday, September 15, the ex-partner met again in the Barcelona player's lawyer's office in Barcelona to reach an agreement on their separation.

According to information published in various media, the negotiations broke down and Piqué left the meeting place earlier than expected.

The financial part could be the main problem in the separation.

But both seek the best for the two children they have in common.

“Regardless of how things turned out or how Gerard and I felt as a former partner, he is the father of my children.

We have a job to do for these two amazing children, and I have faith that we will find out what is best for their future and the fair solution for all.

And I hope and I would be grateful if they gave us the space to do it in private, ”says Shakira in the interview.

The ex-partner, who never got married, announced their separation last June and, since then, they have been trying to reach an agreement that will prevent them from going to trial for the custody of the children.

Rumors suggest that future plans go in very opposite directions: Piqué, playing and with projects in Spain and starting a new relationship with Clara Chía;

while Shakira would have thought to fix her residence in Miami.

“There is no place where I can hide from photographers with my children, except in my own house.

We cannot take a walk in the park like a normal family or go for ice cream or do any activity without being followed, ”complains the singer about the harassment of the

paparazzi .

.

“I have tried to hide the situation from them;

I try to protect them, because that is my priority in life.

But then at school, they hear things from their friends or they come across unpleasant news on the internet, and it just affects them, you know?”, she adds in the interview.

The last few months have been hard for the singer, who has added to her separation her problems with the Spanish Treasury, which she also talks about in the interview.

Shakira rejected the agreement offered by the Barcelona Prosecutor's Office to avoid being tried for defrauding the Treasury of 14.5 million euros and decided to go to trial for tax fraud, given that she "fully" trusts her innocence, she considers that it is " a matter of principle”.

“Even without evidence to support these fictitious claims, as they often do, they have resorted to a lewd press campaign to try to sway people and put pressure on the media along with the threat of reputational damage to force settlements.

It is well known that the Spanish tax authorities often do this not only with well-known people like me (or [Cristiano] Ronaldo, Neymar, [Xabi] Alonso and many more), but also unfairly with other anonymous taxpayers.

But I am confident that I have enough evidence to support my case and that justice will prevail in my favor, ”he highlights about another of the open fronts that he now has in his life.
