Minister of Awqaf Dr. Mohamed Abdel Sattar El-Sayed discussed with deputies of the Russian State Duma cooperation in the cultural and religious fields between the two countries.
Minister El-Sayed gave an explanation of Syria's experience in the religious field and the Ministry of Awqaf's steps to renew religious discourse and confront extremism, referring to joint efforts with Christian churches in Syria to consolidate the Islamic-Christian relationship of a rooted and ancient nature.
Al-Sayed expressed the Syrian people's appreciation for Russia's supportive stances for Syria and its territorial integrity in the face of terrorism and the countries that support it, noting Russia's standing with the right issues in the world and confronting Western hegemony attempts.
For her part, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma Anna Kuznetsova pointed to the importance of Syria's development of religious relations, indicating that the holy places in Syria represent an ancient cultural and spiritual heritage.
In addition, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Peter Tolstoy expressed his country's gratitude for the Syrian positions in support of Russia, stressing that the agreement to be signed between the Syrian Ministry of Endowments and the Religious Administration of Russian Muslims will be an important document and the basis for further cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, the Syrian ambassador in Moscow, Riad Haddad, stressed the importance of the meeting to discuss cooperation in the cultural and religious field between the two countries and full support for Russia in the military operation to protect the Donbas people, pointing out that “Russia represents the bright model in tolerance and acceptance of the other and the rejection of extremism and the evidence is the vision
