Nearly ten years after the last reform of the pension system, the French are a majority (55%) who do not want this debate to be relaunched, according to an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting poll for

Only supporters of Renaissance (84%) and Republicans (60%) want this reform to succeed.
On both sides of the political spectrum, this rejection is particularly marked: only 21% of those close to the Insoumis and 29% of those of the National Rally want this reform to be relaunched.
Aborted in 2020 because of the coronavirus epidemic, the pension reform project carried by Édouard Philippe was a campaign promise by Emmanuel Macron in 2017. The unions were fiercely opposed to it, refusing in particular the postponement of the starting age at full rate at 64 instead of 62.

On this subject, the French are 72% to judge that the system can be reformed without affecting the legal age of retirement.
An opinion widely shared within the main political currents (85% among LFI and RN sympathizers, 82% among socialists and 76% among ecologists), with the exception again of majority support (40%) and Republicans (43%).

19% of French people ready to demonstrate
In addition, the French believe very widely (77%) that Emmanuel Macron would be wrong to use an amendment to the social security finance bill (PLFSS) rather than a dedicated piece of legislation to carry out this reform. .
The use of article 49-3 of the Constitution – which makes it possible to engage the responsibility of the government on a text and therefore to pass by force – is also considered unacceptable by a large majority (72%).

While the left-wing parties have announced the organization of a “
march against the high cost of living
” on October 16, many French people would support a protest movement against the pension plan, if it were to see the light of day.
19% say they would participate, and 48% would support demonstrations but not take part.
