The Prime Minister of Lebanon: "There has been great progress in the maritime border drawing file with Israel" | Israel today

The Prime Minister of Lebanon met with the American Secretary of State at the UN General Assembly in New York. Negotiations are being conducted on the entire drawing of Lebanon's maritime border with Israel • USA: "We will continue to work with Lebanon"


The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Najib Mikati, met today (Wednesday) with the American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in the presence of the American negotiator on the maritime border drawing issue, Amos Hochstein.

Also present at the meeting were State Department Undersecretary Victoria Nuland, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib and Lebanese Ambassador to the United Nations Amal Modelali.

After the meeting, Lebanese Prime Minister Mikati emphasized: "The maritime border drawing file was evidence of great progress."

According to him, discussions were held "on all the cases with a special emphasis on holding elections for the presidency of Lebanon".

He added that the parties discussed matters related to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Beirut's agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the school year in Lebanon that will open soon.

Secretary of State in Lincoln: "The meeting between the parties was good, the US will continue to work with Lebanon to achieve peace and prosperity."
