The disappearance of the lawyer María Belén Bernal 10 days ago in Ecuador, and the confirmation this Wednesday of the discovery of her body, has shocked the country.
It has also generated reactions in the upper echelons of the Government on sexist violence.
Bernal disappeared after having entered the Superior Police School, early on the morning of September 11, to see her husband, a police lieutenant who is now a suspect and is on the run.
Ana María Cañizares was investigating the details of this case and thus the investigation progressed before her remains were found.
