Two mountain rescuers rappel down from Christkönigturm.

Four musicians from the town and miners' bands stride across a zebra crossing - like the Beatles once did on Abbey Road.

This can be seen in two of twelve humorous photos of a new annual calendar "for, with and from Penzberg clubs", which is now being published for a good cause.

Penzberg – The 2023 calendar is published by the Penzberg cultural community.

The idea came from Vice Chair Monika Uhl, who implemented the project with Antonia Hoppe, Catrin Bocksberger, Lena Schabert and Stefan Fuchs.

The calendar is due out in mid-October.

The proceeds go to the support association of the Penzberg Don Bosco youth center.

He was introduced on Tuesday.

Kulturgemeinschaft Penzberg turns 20 this year

The reason for this is that the cultural community is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

It was founded in 2002 by a group of people led by Ehrenfried Mock, Franz Wagner and Nikolaus Lutz to support cultural activities.

Inge Wagner remembers that the first donation was for the Barbara chapel on the Berghalde.

In total, more than 60 projects have been supported with over 200,000 euros over the past 20 years, according to Chairman Thomas Sendl.

These included the installation of Heinrich Campendonk's Isaiah window in the Christkönigskirche and the addition of street name signs with explanations.

A birthday calendar “for, with and from Penzberg clubs”

Something special had been thought of for the 20-year-old, Sendl said on Tuesday in the Bürgerbahnhof, a calendar “for, with and from Penzberg clubs”.

The cultural community contributes 5,000 euros, the printing costs are covered by the city.

The calendar is sold for 10 euros.

According to Sendl, the proceeds go to the support association of the Don Bosco youth center, which is facing “imaginably big tasks”.

"We hope that a considerable sum will be raised," added the chairman.

Twelve humorous and elaborately staged calendar images

Twelve humorous, elaborately staged and high-quality pictures were created for the calendar, for example of the Penzberg mountain rescuers abseiling down Christkönigsturm, the musicians of the town and miners' band, who cross a zebra crossing like the Beatles, and of the three mayors posing with swimming rings and inflatable pretzels in front of the family pool construction site.

The calendar also includes the fire brigade, carnival club, Oberlandler Volkstheater, rabbit breeders, AWO, young knights, traditional costume clubs, sports clubs and miners.

Proceeds are for the Don Bosco youth center association

She was incredibly happy that the clubs were there after two seconds of deliberation, said Monika Uhl.

"They also got involved in nonsense." Finally, funny photos - taken by Lena Schabert - should be created.

The catholic pastor Bernhard Holz probably shot the bird: He had the mountain rescue service rappel him down from the church tower for the photo.

There is also a short film made by Stefan Fuchs for each calendar image, which can be accessed via QR code.

In it, the clubs advertise themselves.

She hopes, according to Uhl, that many people from Penzberg can be inspired to donate more than ten euros to the Don Bosco youth center support association.

Its vice chair Iris Ihßen thanked the cultural community and the city during the presentation.

The children in the youth center "actually don't have a lobby," she said.

The support association wants to help them create an environment in which children and educators feel comfortable.

New supporting members are also welcome.

More than 120 clubs: "Lots of potential for more calendars"

The municipal club and volunteer promoter Thomas Kapfer said that there are more than 120 clubs in Penzberg, proof of how diverse the city is.

More than ever, they need platforms on which they can present themselves.

The calendar is another facet, says Kapfer.

In view of the number of 120 clubs, the head of the cultural community, Sendl, has already prophesied: There is “a lot of potential for further calendars” in the next few years.

The calendar is available from mid-October 2022 at: Trachtenstube Inge, Stadt Penzberg, VHS, Catholic Parish Office, Rid Modewelt, Purzmurzel Spielhaus, Café Bistro Extra, Cosmetics & Beauty Uhl, HypoVereinsbank, La femme, Jugendhaus Don Bosco and Oberland Versicherungsservice.

It is also sold at the Christmas market.
