The Energy Agency Ebersberg-Munich normally takes care of climate protection on the doorstep.

But now Angelika Bachmann, who is responsible for climate education, has sent a “climate box” to Rome.

District – The Ebersberg-Munich energy agency normally takes care of climate protection on the doorstep and advises private households, companies and municipalities on how to save energy.

And she tutors students in environmental studies.

But now Angelika Bachmann, who is responsible for climate education at the facility, has sent a package to Rome.

Contents: A "climate box" for use in schools and kindergartens.

The energy agency based in Ebersberg has achieved something special: Together with partner institutions in Italy, Sweden and Austria, they have received an application for funding for an Erasmus climate education program in schools.

Almost 60,000 euros per participating country were approved, duration: three years.

Since then, Angelika Bachmann has been in regular contact with her colleagues - a first similar meeting took place this year in May at Lake Starnberg.

Climate protection in schools: Depends on the commitment of the teachers

"I've always been annoyed that climate education isn't part of the curriculum in Germany," says Bachmann.

Climate protection in schools sometimes takes place in geography, sometimes in chemistry, sometimes in biology - and is always dependent on the commitment of the teachers.

The "climate adventures" that she is working on with the partner organizations for the Erasmus project are now being piloted at two pilot schools, one in Rome and the other at the Gymnasium Kirchseeon, in the English subject - because all the material is in English will be.

It starts in these weeks.

Two of five modules that are supposed to form the so-called "clim@ventures" are finished - and were in the box for Rome.

Climate box: Energy agency sells them to schools and kindergartens

Angelika Bachmann beams when she talks about it.

Climate protection has always been one of her major issues, even when she was still head of the Emile Montessori School in Neubiberg.

Together with a colleague, she developed the eight climate boxes.

The energy agency sells them to schools and kindergartens.

Among them is a "fair fashion" box that makes the madness of fashion visible.

The nice thing about the Erasmus project is that the students are also encouraged to go out and experience climate adventures.

They should scan the area for green showcase projects and describe them in podcasts, newspaper articles and videos.

Storytelling is an important part of the Erasmus concept.

The part will take over the project "Italia Che Cambia", an association of dedicated Italian journalists.

Bachman says:

“What we are planning is a completely different type of learning than the usual cramming from books.

Boring presentations are not enough for us.”

Also present are: the Swedish initiative "Changemaker" and the Austrian association "Forum Via", which relies on new forms of learning in connection with climate change and with whose chairman Valentina Aversano-Dearborn Angelika Bachmann wrote the funding application.

In the end, the submitted paper was more than 100 pages long, and compliance with it is also monitored.

"Of course we have to stick strictly to what we have stated."

Experiments for the intermediate level: CO2 consumption in food production

“Forum Via” will develop the three learning modules that are still missing.

The two modules in the box, contributed by the Energy Agency, are essentially developed experiments for the intermediate level.

Among other things, they revolve around the CO2 consumption in the production of food and the energy efficiency of light sources.

Clim@ventures: Already this autumn

The high school students in the Kirchseeon high school, one of the two pilot schools, should experience the first Clim@ventures this autumn.

Among other things, it is planned to present companies from the districts of Ebersberg and Munich that want to work climate-neutrally by 2030.

Angelika Bachmann will also

give a

lecture for the Grafing adult education center on

: She reports on her bike tour from Croatia to Glonn, on which she was also "on the road with green glasses" this year.

7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., Griesstrasse 27.
