Geneva, SANA- The permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Hussam El-Din Ala A

Geneva-Sana

Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Hossam El Din Ala, affirmed that the decisions and reports of the Human Rights Council targeting some countries are still governed by double standards and Western interventionist agendas in a way that contradicts the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and the principles of comprehensiveness, objectivity, impartiality and non-selectivity that stipulate It shall be subject to the decision of the General Assembly upon the establishment of the Council.

In a statement today before the 51st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Item Four, “The Situation in Syria,” Ambassador Ala said: Syria recalls its rejection of the non-consensual resolution that established the Commission of Inquiry on the situation in it and the subsequent decisions related to extending its mandate and its rejection of the reports of this committee that target Syria for political considerations and to serve the goals of the sponsoring countries of this committee.

Ambassador Ala clarified that, as in previous reports, the report of the committee before the current session of the Council confirms its insistence on presenting a false understanding that approaches the situation in Syria with misleading names and descriptions that ignore the nature of the terrorist war targeting Syria and the external factor represented in supporting the establishment of terrorist groups that continue to commit terrorist acts on Syrian territory. In its ranks are thousands of foreign terrorists who came from most countries of the world and are falsely marketed as an “armed Syrian opposition.”

Ambassador Alla indicated that the commission’s reports adopt fabricated narratives circulated by social media and are behind their promotion by countries and parties hostile to the Syrian state, and presenting them as facts and postulates, which is one of the most prominent examples of the lack of professionalism and credibility of the commission’s work methods and its non-neutral sources of information, in addition to its insistence on distorting its efforts. The Syrian state is to protect its people, provide their basic needs, achieve national reconciliation, and return the displaced and refugees to their homeland and homes, pointing out that in confirmation of its non-objective and politicized positions, some members of the committee are willing to donate in media statements with flimsy pretexts to justify the attacks of the Israeli occupation entity on Syrian civilian facilities and ports instead of condemning them as war crimes. The perpetrators must be held accountable.

The permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva indicated that in light of the challenges of terrorism and acts of aggression and the American, Turkish and Israeli occupation of parts of the Syrian territories in conjunction with the theft of its natural resources and economic capabilities and the use of water by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries as a weapon of war against a million citizens in Al-Hasakah for more than fifty days Not to mention the consequences of unilateral coercive measures that violate the human rights of the Syrian people and harm their living and humanitarian conditions, Syria continues, in cooperation with friendly countries and United Nations agencies, to work to strengthen the humanitarian response for its citizens and expand it to include access to basic services, early recovery activities and infrastructure rehabilitation in the context of its efforts To get out of the repercussions of the crisis and to enhance the enabling environment for the return of the displaced to their homeland and areas from which terrorist groups forced them to flee.

Ambassador Ala indicated that the initiative to immediately and unconditionally lift the immoral economic siege targeting the Syrian people is the key to ending their human suffering and ensuring their enjoyment of human rights, including their right to life, health, food, water, education and development, which are being violated as a result of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and the European Union, stressing Any talk of unintended humanitarian consequences of unilateral coercive measures and invoking exceptions that do not exist on the ground is political heresy aimed at justifying the crimes caused by these measures, which amount to a crime against humanity.

Ambassador Ala noted that the commitment to make rapid progress in implementing early recovery projects, including the electricity and water sectors, and enhancing the delivery of humanitarian aid from inside Syria, as stipulated in Security Council Resolution No. 2642, and abandoning political conditionality on humanitarian and development aid, would constitute a positive contribution to Alleviating the human and living suffering of the Syrians and accelerating the return of the displaced and refugees.

Ambassador Ala made it clear that within the framework of efforts to recover from the terrorist war detachments that are targeting it, Syria continues the path of national settlements and reconciliations in the various governorates, and Decree No. 7, which granted a general and comprehensive amnesty for terrorist crimes committed before the 30th of last April, reflects an advanced stage of the Syrian state’s efforts in this regard. The field and in facilitating the return of Syrians living outside the country who are subject to its provisions and who have allowed them to settle their status and return without the need to review any official body.

Ambassador Ala stressed Syria's keenness to protect and promote the rights of its people under its national laws and international contractual obligations and to cooperate with non-discriminatory treaty mechanisms in the Human Rights Council, noting that the national report of the Syrian Arab Republic dealt with, within the framework of the comprehensive review mechanism, all issues related to human rights in Syria that renew Its complete rejection of the accusations contained in the committee's report before the Council, accusations that were previously refuted during the discussion of the national report within the framework of the comprehensive review mechanism.
