At a Rosh Hashanah toast, held by the police, Chief Rabbi Kobi Shabtai called to the public: Go out, celebrate, but be sensitive to the environment. We handle hundreds of alerts every day"

The Commissioner of Police spoke at the ceremony of awarding ranks and raising a toast on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, Israel, at the national headquarters in Jerusalem.

In his speech he said: "Even before the establishment of the state, as well as in our day, there was talk about the dangers from inside the country and outside of it. Those from inside the country are met by Israeli police officers and soldiers on a daily basis, at the crossings, in Judea and Samaria, in Jerusalem and in other parts of the country. The terrorist organizations do not stop For a moment to try and harm the citizens of Israel.

If not by missiles then by terrorists, if not organized then individuals, and if not by means of the media then through wild incitement on the net.

In the face of these attempts, we are doing everything together with our partners in the IDF and Shin Bet to thwart the intentions of the terrorist organizations and to damage their sources of funding and incitement.

This is an ongoing effort that requires patience, constant vigilance and initiative from us."

The commissioner adds: "All of these were implemented by two Tel Aviv police officers when they prevented a murderous attack that could have clouded the national holiday joy that envelops us all. We are seeing a large increase in the number of alerts and intentions for attacks and we are preparing against this with great forces.

Shabbat checkpoints throughout the country,

The Israel Police will increase its vigilance starting from Shabbat evening until the end of the holiday period to the highest level, which includes the deployment of thousands of police officers at road checkpoints, in shopping and entertainment centers, and in synagogues and gathering areas all over the country.

Along with our increased activity in the coming period, the public is also asked to be highly alert.

From here I say to the public: go out, have fun, celebrate the Tishrei holidays but also be awake and sensitive to the environment.

We will come to every call and give a quick response to every report."
