At about 8 pm today (21st), when a taxi approached the light position at the junction of Po Ya Road and Tai Wo Road in Tai Po, it was suspected that it was unable to stop and rammed into a black private car at the stop light position in front.
The taxi driver was found unconscious in the car and was taken to Nethersole Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
But after rescue, it was finally confirmed dead.

The taxi driver involved was surnamed Chen, 51 years old; the driver of the private car that was hit was surnamed Kong, 60 years old.
According to on-site information, the private car involved stopped at the light at the junction of Baoya Road and Taihe Road at the time of the incident, waiting for the green light to turn, followed by a taxi and rammed into the rear of the private car.
In addition to the male driver, the private car also carried the same 12-year-old passenger, while the taxi involved did not carry any passengers.
After the incident, the driver of the private car got out of the car to check the rear of the car and the situation of the taxi, but found that the taxi driver was unconscious, and other passers-by were present to assist the police.
Ambulancemen arrived at the scene and took the taxi driver to the hospital for treatment.
It is understood that the victim was pronounced dead at 9:36 pm.
The police were present at the scene to search for evidence, and the driver of the private car involved also assisted the police in their investigation. It was confirmed that they passed alcohol insufflation and drug tests.
Police said they are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tai Po yesterday (21st) in which a 51-year-old man died.
At 8:55 p.m., the 51-year-old man was driving a taxi along Po Ya Road in the direction of Tai Wo Section of Tai Po Road. When approaching the junction of Po Ya Road and Tai Po Tai Wo Road, it reportedly collided with a taxi. Private car parked in front of traffic lights.
The taxi driver was found unconscious in the car. He had no surface injuries and was taken to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in a coma. He was certified dead at 9:36 pm.
The Special Investigation Team of Traffic New Territories North is investigating the case.
