Because a Mercedes driver (42) from Berg was told by her navigation system when turning that she was driving wrongly, she made a fatal driving maneuver at an intersection in Hohenschäftlarn.
It promptly cracked.
Schäftlarn – According to the police, the accident happened on Wednesday around 1.10 p.m. at the intersection of Münchner Straße with Starnberger Straße and Klosterstraße.
The Mercedes driver, who was driving east on Starnberger Strasse, wanted to turn right at the intersection onto Münchner Strasse.
She blinked and got into the right lane.
A 68-year-old Eglinger driving behind her took the opportunity and drove his BMW past the Mercedes on the left.
At that moment, the 42-year-old's navigation device said she was driving the wrong way.
The woman then decided to continue straight ahead in the direction of Klosterstraße and steered her vehicle to the left again.
She hit the right rear of the BMW with her Mercedes so hard that the axle of her vehicle broke.
According to the police, the car had to be towed away with a total loss of around 50,000 euros.
The BMW also suffered damage of around 10,000 euros.
While the two drivers were unharmed, the BMW driver's wife (66) complained of back pain after the collision.
However, she did not have to be hospitalized, but said she wanted to see a doctor herself.
