A driver was wanted on Thursday after fleeing during a police check the day before near Dunkirk (North), slightly injuring a police officer and three passers-by in his flight, said the departmental security directorate.
A police crew tried to control a motorist who had tried to conceal his face as they approached around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the port city.
Three passers-by hit by the car
The man pretended to stop before restarting, hitting a policeman who had gotten out of the car to check him, and the police quickly lost track of him, dropping the charges according to the same source.
Three passers-by then came forward to police, saying they had been hit by the fleeing car: a 68-year-old pedestrian fell while dodging the curbside vehicle to avoid a slowdown and a car with two people inside was hit when he ran a red light.
This incident comes as a driver who seriously injured a police officer near Valenciennes (north) on Monday evening is still in police custody, after trying to escape a check because he was carrying 11 kilos of heroin.
