Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that the Kyiv regime and Western countries are obstructing efforts to resolve the situation in Ukraine by political and diplomatic means.
During a meeting with Swiss President Ignazio Cassis on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Lavrov referred to the dangerous nature of the policy of the Kyiv regime and Western countries to escalate and prolong the crisis in Ukraine and to disrupt the process of reaching diplomatic and political solutions.
Lavrov criticized Switzerland's abandonment of the principle of neutrality, its accession to the European Union's sanctions against Russia, and its unfriendly path towards Moscow, calling on the Swiss authorities to return to the policy of a neutral state that had previously been recognized on the international scene.
Lavrov and Cassis also discussed a number of practical issues on the bilateral and global agenda in light of Switzerland's election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
