Ten years ago, AWO Klawotte opened its doors in Martinsried.

A good reason for the manager Christine Einhellig to celebrate this milestone with customers and employees this Friday.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., a large traditional costume sale will take place under the motto “Everything Wiesn”.

Planegg

- "We set up beer tables outside and there are pretzels, as well as beer and sparkling wine to toast," says Christine Einhellig, who has been in charge of the Klawotte from the start.

But not only the 49-year-old from Planegg has been there from the start.

Also the 14 volunteer employees of the shop in Martinsrieder Einsteinstraße.

"It's really great," said Einhellig.

In September 2012 there were more than twice as many helpers.

On average, however, the employees are between sixty and seventy, so that over the years many have wanted to downsize due to their age.

But the current constellation is sufficient.

With the two men on board, according to Einhellig, receiving goods on Thursday and Friday is particularly easy.

The Klawotte is a workers' welfare institution and was set up so that people with tight budgets can afford clothes, shoes and household goods.

This works on the basis of donations.

The Martinsrieder Klawotte receives around 250 donations of clothes every day.

That is much.

And some things have to be sorted out directly by the volunteers.

The Klawotte offers its goods seasonally - currently just matching the Oktoberfest costumes and with regard to the winter jackets, hats and gloves.

Everything that the facility cannot use is transported weekly to Klawotte in Romania.

According to Einheilig, the abolition of the children's range would have changed in the last ten years.

This is due to the pandemic and the fact that children's clothes are preferred to be bought new.

Towels and bed linen, on the other hand, are always in demand.

If a set of good bed linen costs more than 80 euros in a shop, you can get it for as little as 10 euros.

You can get a nice branded dirndl for around 25 to 30 euros.

Speaking of brands.

Items by well-known designers are regularly found in the range, such as a Dior bag recently.

"That'll be a hit," says Einhellig.

Many customers actually come primarily to get a bargain.

Louis Vuitton's visual merchandising team beautified the second-hand department store

For the future of Klawotte, Christine Einhellig hopes that it will no longer be seen as a social department store.

"We see ourselves more as a Würmtal second-hand department store for everyone." Nobody takes anything away from anyone, emphasizes the manager.

The new shine in the interior design, which the suit received as a kind of birthday present, fits in perfectly with this.

In the spring, the so-called Visual Merchandising Team from Louis Vuitton embellished the Martinsrieder shop for a whole day on a voluntary basis and gave the facility many high-quality decorative goods, such as golden steles or fashion dolls for the presentation of the goods.

Unanimously: “It was crazy.

Just great!"
