Minister of Awqaf Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Sattar al-Sayed affirmed that Syrian-Russian relations are rooted in all fields, including religious cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Al-Sayed said in a press conference held today in Moscow, in which the Chairman of the Council of Iraqi Scholars and member of the Religious Academy Sheikh Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Muhammad and the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis in Russia Sheikh Roshan Abbasov participated, “We arrived in Russia at the invitation of the religious administration in it to participate in the international conference held in Moscow Under the title (Religious Education in the Service of Society), several meetings were held with religious leaders, as well as with deputies of the Russian Duma and some of its members. The official and popular position in Syria in support of the special military operation to protect the Donbass people and the role played by Russian President Vladimir Putin in limiting From the attempts of the West and NATO, led by the United States, to extend towards the Russian borders.”

Minister El-Sayed stressed that this special military operation is a correction of history, as Russia today defends truth and justice in the world in order to re-emerge pluralism and end Western hegemony, which always wants to humiliate peoples.

In an interview with SANA’s correspondent in Moscow on the sidelines of the conference, Minister Al-Sayed stressed the importance of the International Conference on Religious Education, explaining that Syria had the key word in which we explained the nature of this education in our country and its experience in combating extremism and terrorism.

He added that the most important station in our presence in Russia was the signing of a very important agreement, which the head of the religious administration in Russia described as a historic moment and a historic day by signing an agreement on religious cooperation between Syria and Russia, noting that the agreement provides for the training of Russian imams, preachers and muftis at (Al-Sham Center for Combating Terrorism and Extremism). affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf, in addition to circulating comprehensive interpretation and cooperation with the Syrian Fiqh Academy in the field of legal fatwas in Russia.

In a similar interview, Abbasov said that this international conference held today in Moscow confirms that we have common goals and tasks in countering extremist ideas and working to make Islam a religion of peace understandable today in society, noting the positions of Syria and Arab and Islamic countries supporting Russia and the special military operation to protect the Donbass people.

Abbasov called for solidarity and cohesion against the greater evil and to work to build a multipolar world so that no country can impose its hegemony on the world.

In turn, the Chairman of the Council of Iraqi Scholars, Sheikh Mahmoud Abdul Aziz Muhammad, indicated that the most important thing discussed by the conference is the role of religion and religious education in combating crime and preventing terrorism, stressing the importance of the role these conferences play in strengthening the bonds of societies and exposing the danger of moral deviations and their impact on their cohesion, as is happening in Western countries. .
