New York State Attorney General Leticia James filed a civil lawsuit against former US President Donald Trump and his family yesterday, accusing him of inflating asset valuations and reducing his net worth by billions in order to obtain tax and insurance benefits.
“We are suing Trump for breaking the law in order to achieve personal profits for him, his family and his company,” James told reporters. Buying property in the state for a period of five years.
The Prosecutor indicated her office's intention to make a criminal referral of the case to the Ministry of Justice.
The investigation against the Trump family group was opened after Michael Cohen, one of Trump's former personal lawyers, testified before Congress in Washington that he disclosed fraudulent assessments up or down of assets within the Trump Organization for loans, a tax cut or better insurance compensation.
These lawsuits add to several other ongoing investigations against Trump, including the investigation into his presidential archive that led to the FBI raid of his Florida residence on August 8.
