Massive problems arose with the school transport in Ohlstadt

Ohlstadt

– Next week – from September 28 – work will begin on the train route between Murnau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Sleepers, rails and ballast will be replaced there on around ten kilometers by November 16th.

This is announced by a railway spokeswoman.

The route will be closed during the work, and the current timetable will continue to apply for replacement traffic.

The railway also announces that the work between Murnau and Weilheim will “probably take place from 2023”.

"On this route, too, around four kilometers of track, sleepers and ballast will be replaced," it says.

Massive difficulties on the first day of school

Train passengers to and from Ohlstadt are among those who will have to make do with replacement services until mid-November due to the track closure between Murnau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The students from the region are particularly affected.

Especially when there is a problem with the practical implementation.

So, on the first day of school, of all things, there were massive teething problems.

"It went haywire," reports Ohlstadt Mayor Christian Scheuerer (independent).

Because of the nice weather, many parents decided not to drive their children to school themselves, which ultimately became necessary in many cases.

The problem was that some bus drivers did not seem to be sufficiently informed about the route.

The turning hammer in the Mühlmoos commercial area was also not well known to everyone.

So some buses tried with great difficulty to turn around in the Feneberg parking lot.

In the meantime, however, the rail replacement service is running smoothly.

"It's been working since the weekend," assures Scheuerer.

“Fortunately” they had a competent contact person at Deutsche Bahn.

There are also problems with school transport in Murnau.

A parents' evening will be held on Thursday in the culture and conference center for the parents of bus children from the James Loeb Elementary School.

Start is at 7 p.m.
